The site was first uploaded on 10th February 2001.

During February, March and April 2001 there were countless updates as I built and developed the site. 

Most updates of any significance since then are listed below in reverse date order, most recent at the top.

  • OK - I admit it. When I add new items to a page they could be anywhere on the page, and some pages are getting a bit big. It can make finding a specific new item a bit hard.  So from now on you will find that if it is new and it has a serial number, the serial number will be in red type.  Find them while you can because they will all turn black again at the next update, when a new set of red serial numbers will appear.

  • A rather boring new page added - Site Policy - just a bit of administrative tidying up.  All existing members ought to be familiar with its contents - and it will calm you down after the excitement of all the new pictures!

  • I have, at last, added all of Howard's pictures to the database so they will crop up in search results now. (Though I have not added descriptions to most of them - just the odd one that needed some comment.)

Eyebaths.com re-launched 21st March 2002 - THE NEW EYEBATHS.COM 

  • REVISED STRUCTURE AND MEMBERS ONLY SECTIONS INTRODUCED

  • SEARCHABLE DATABASE OF SITE CONTENTS GOES LIVE

    The following outlines what has and has not been catalogued in the database at present:

    • Everything in the Collection currently, is in the database (except Repros)

    • Everything on the three "More Eyebaths" pages is in the database

    • Everything on Chuck's pages is in the database 

    • Items on Howard's pages are not in the database

    • Items on Repros page are not in the database

    • Items on Fakes and Mistakes are not in the database

  • DISCUSSION FORUM GOES LIVE

  • Many pages restructured, plus lots of new items added as below.  See below (and site map above) for changes to navigation and some new pages (some of which are replacing old ones)

  • All image thumbnails, when clicked, should now open the full size image in a new browser window.  (Do let me know if you find any that don't) 

  • New page in The Reference Library showing a selection of  US Patents

  • Navigation within the Collection pages has changed slightly - Faceted Bowls (1) is now Faceted - Marked and Faceted Bowls (2) is now Faceted - Unmarked and both can now be reached from the Collection page

  • The single China/Metal/Plastic page is now split into three separate pages:  China ,  Metal  and  Plastic

  • The page structure has changed elsewhere:  Printed articles are now on the Articles page; all advertising material is now on a page called Advertising & Catalogues and both these pages can be reached from the Reference Library page

  • The Kealey Article page now has images from a good quality copy of the original article

  • Some new historical information about Gayner Glass Works on Articles page, plus an article about Dr Isaac Thompson's Celebrated Eye Water, an a link to another eyebath article from Antique Bottle & Glass Collector Magazine 

  • The Woods Eyebaths page now has all the Woods reservoirs and Woods tubs on it; they can still be seen on Reservoirs and Tubs pages respectively. A couple of Woods items from the miscellany page are also there

  • There is a new page - Fakes and Mistakes

  • There is a new page - Sets&Themed Pages under The Reference Library. Here you will find links to three new themed pages as well as the bringing together of other items which have something in common.  The linked themed pages are:
